Central systolic blood pressure (cSBP) to brachial systolic blood pressure (brachSBP) ratio reproducibility during antihypertensive therapy

چکیده

OBJECTIVES Higher CSBP than brachial SBP in individual patient increases cardiovascular (CV) risk. For follow-up it is important to assess the reproducibility of such measurements. The aim this study was these differences, expressed as a CSBP/BrachSBP ratios. SUBJECTS AND METHODS Eighty-three patients on antihypertensive therapy were analysed for ratios after time interval several month up years. estimation, we used Arteriograph (Tensiomed Ltd.), based blood pressure measurements by cuff oscillometric principle, using pulse wave analysis (PWA) assessment CSBP. RESULTS proportion retained same characteristics (either higher central or peripheral SBP) between first and second measurement 71.1 %. association 1st 2nd measurement, statistically significant, p < 0.001. CONCLUSION In our study, high (60 %) treated hypertensive had SBP, which may adversely influence their prognosis. This characteristic highly reproducible. Taking into account differences increase exactness CV risk estimation contribute explanation residual (Tab. 3, Fig. 1, Ref. 28).

Central Blood Pressure/Aortic Stiffness Validation of a Brachial Cuff-Based Method for Estimating Central Systolic Blood Pressure

The prognostic value of central systolic blood pressure has been established recently. At present, its noninvasive assessment is limited by the need of dedicated equipment and trained operators. Moreover, ambulatory and home blood pressure monitoring of central pressures are not feasible. An algorithm enabling conventional automated oscillometric blood pressure monitors to assess central systol...

Systolic blood pressure and mortality.

BACKGROUND The current systolic blood-pressure threshold for hypertension treatment is 140 mm Hg for all adults. WHO and the International Society of Hypertension have proposed that normal pressure be lower than 130 mm Hg, with an optimum pressure of less than 120 mm Hg. These recommendations are based largely on the assumption that cardiovascular and overall mortality depend in a strictly incr...

Central Blood Pressure Brachial Blood Pressure–Independent Relations Between Radial Late Systolic Shoulder-Derived Aortic Pressures and Target Organ Changes

Central aortic blood pressure (BP; BPc) predicts outcomes beyond brachial BP. In this regard, the application of a generalized transfer function (GTF) to radial pulse waves for the derivation of BPc is an easy and reproducible measurement technique. However, the use of the GTF may not be appropriate in all circumstances. Although the peak of the second shoulder of the radial waveform (P2) is cl...

Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial (SPRINT) and Target Systolic Blood Pressure in Future Hypertension Guidelines.

The Systolic Blood Pressure (SBP, mm Hg) Intervention Trial (SPRINT) showed that targeting SBP <120 mm Hg (intensive treatment, mean SBP: 121.5 mm Hg) versus <140 (standard treatment, mean SBP: 134.6 mm Hg) reduced cardiovascular events 25%. SPRINT has 2 implicit assumptions that could impact future US hypertension guidelines: (1) standard therapy controlled SBP similarly to that in adults with...
